Rolling Homes by Trevor Shy

Most of us are willing to cut costs to avoid skipping a day of sliding at the pass. But when a pb and j instead of lunch on the town still doesn't leave enough change left to get out shredding, it's time to try something different. The solution...a forty-year-old box on wheels that can take away your monthly requirement to write a rent check as soon as it is leveled up on jack stands. Sacrificing nights in a warm house to live in a trailer is a cheap way to satisfy a desire to ride more than your current living situation might allow.  The downsides of living in a 1960's travel trailer in the mountains during ski season are numerous (mold, cold, condensation, wet gear, stinky boots, ladies?, carbon monoxide, etc.) but the price cannot be beat. A monthly heating bill gets swapped for five gallon tanks of propane ($15 per bottle), the water bill for quarter showers at the state park (50 cents/3 min) and the everyday hustle for a slowing of pace, a fresh perspective, and hopefully turns in deep snow. So next time you renew your lease just remember, the money on the damage deposit could probably buy a nice "home" to come back to after ripping turns all day.

We here at Stevens Pass salute the folks like Trevor who do whatever it takes each winter to ensure they get first chair on a powder day and make the most of the short winter season, thanks Trev!
